YORK will provide three players in the Yorkshire squad for Sunday's British Amateur Rugby League Association's County Championship decider against Cumbria.

York Acorn duo Johnny Waldron, the flying winger, and prop Adam Endersby, along with Heworth forward Wayne Foster, have all been added to the squad that beat Lancashire earlier this month.

Heworth coach Alfie Hill, who will lead the side along with his Ideal Isberg and Skirlaugh counterparts Tony Spence and Steve Robson, has named a 20-man squad ahead of the match due to impending fitness tests.

Hill said: "We haven't had a big squad to pick from and we have had to pull a few in due to injuries. But we still feel we will have the side to win the championship and we will decide the team on the day. It's three years since we last won the trophy and we want to win it again."

The game is at West Hull (kick off 2.30pm) and means that Foster will have to sit out Heworth's National Conference League division two game against Stanningley on Saturday because of a 72-hour ruling to guard against burn-out.

Nikki Wilson is, however, expected to return for the Villagers at centre, having been sidelined by injury for the Waterhead match last week.

A win could be enough to cement Heworth's future in the Conference for another season.

Heworth spokesman Ken Sykes said: "We could still end up in the bottom two so this is obviously a game that we have got to target.

"We think we need at least two more points from the next four games to be sure of avoiding it so this is one we are hoping we can win."

Acorn have no game this weekend.

BARLA official Spen Allison, of York, is the Yorkshire team manager and Acorn physiotherapist Jonty Thompson is also on the staff.
