I UNDERSTAND that the council will be holding a meeting at the Guildhall on April 6 at 5pm to consider the Straylands Grove bollard. Although this meeting is open to the public, I have been informed that the only people notified of this are the ones who wrote protest letters against the transport order.

Apparently the planning and transport department are not under any obligation to publicise this important meeting.

Straylands Grove and Woodlands Grove are through roads.

My house on Westlands Grove was built in 1934. This was built as a through road to link Malton Road with Stockton Lane and residents or non-residents should be free to drive on it.

Most residents consider themselves part of Heworth community and do not wish to become part of an exclusive and divisive area.

The passes to lower the bollard are expected to cost £10.

These passes contain a time battery which cannot be replaced and thus new passes will need to be obtained at regular intervals.

The cost to the council of buying these from the manufacturer will be passed on in full to the user.

Ivan Hollis,

Westlands Grove,

York.
