I READ with dismay the article 'Green light' (April 15).

It would appear this council is considering removing a busy zebra crossing in Front Street, Acomb, to make way for the new FTR bus.

Will First Group be asked to pay for the installation of the traffic signals at the junction of Green Lane and Front Street? I think not.

My father is partially sighted and relies on this crossing to cross the road safely. Its removal will remove some of his independence.

The FTR is totally unsuitable for the streets of the city. First Group should be told to buy vehicles which can negotiate our narrow streets.

The articulated/bendy bus now operating from Askham Bar causes chaos as it turns from Blossom Street into Queen Street and the FTR will compound this.

This is a vehicle we can definitely do without so I urge our councillors to think again.
