THE GREEN PARTY'S candidate in York got on his bike in the search for votes, as the General Election campaign entered the home straight.

Andy D'Agorne is standing for the Greens in the City of York, and took the party's battle-bike on to the streets of Fulford yesterday.

Mr D'Agorne, currently a City of York Councillor for Fishergate, said: "We've been out with the bike, and we've been getting a good response from people.

"There's a lot of people who are looking for an alternative from Labour, who have been disappointed and are looking to vote for someone else. Hopefully with our increased profile, we will get an increased vote from last time around."

The Greens have never had an MP, but won two council seats in York in the 2003 local elections.
