AN ENTIRE village near York has been temporarily scrubbed from the election map - for the second time in a year.

Elvington was briefly left out in the cold during last summer's all-postal Euro poll, when a computer error was blamed for ballot papers arriving late.

Now City of York Council has held its hands up after General Election voting cards did not turn up on time for an estimated 900 voters in the marginal Selby seat.

City of York Council, delivering cards on behalf of Selby District Council, blamed an administrative error - but said this was not linked to last year's problem.

Cards had been posted yesterday. Anyone who had not received them today should contact the council.

However, anyone registered can vote without a voting card, as long as they have form of identification, such as a letter with their name and address on.
