ONE Night of Variety put on by St Andrew's Church Boys and Girls Brigade was just that. Known more for their award-winning band rather than acting, singing and dancing, they managed a good performance with pace and flow with that touch of magic throughout.

With only two members of the company who had dance training, Livy Evans did a fine job of teaching five year olds through to seniors (with two left feet) some good routines, which were well executed. The four members on crutches left them behind that evening, including Sean Garnet, who sported a new shocking pink pot and sheer determination to perform.

I must say the pot went down well in Zorba The Greek and as a flapper in Millie with the mirth it created.

In the musical numbers soloists and chorus sang with gusto. The same can be said of the instrumentalists who played well, and other scenes. In spite of injuries and mishaps prior to the show, it was well produced, well dressed with good props and effects.

The enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment of the performers was contagious, with the audience shrieking with laughter and loud applause round the theatre.

Well done everyone!
