NESTLE Rowntree super-sub Nick Lawrie grabbed two goals to help his team overcome Heworth in an entertaining York FA Intermediate Under 15 Minor Cup final.

Lawrie helped steer Nestl to a 5-3 victory over Heworth who had earlier taken the lad when Chris Thompson's long-range shot went under the diving body of goalkeeper Michael Fletcher.

Danny Penrose and Oliver Ellwood were then both denied by Heworth keeper Danny Smith and a Glen Thompson volley extended the eventual losers' advantage.

Defender Jon McNaughton was outstanding for Heworth but even he was powerless as Nestle's John Patrick crossed for Carl Stewart to net just before half-time.

Early in the second period, the scores were level after a great Penrose header from a corner but, within two minutes, Heworth restored their lead when Thompson latched on to a through ball.

But Lawrie then turned the final on its head with two goals in as many minutes.

His first was a lob and the second finished off a superb team move. Stewart then settled the match after an excellent cross by Tom Magee.

York FA treasurer Alan King made the presentations.

In the York FA Senior Minor Cup final, Jay Brown and Jack Willan both struck twice as Pickering Town defeated Real Cliffe 4-2.

Tom Hogg gave Real a 15th minute lead when he headed in a fine cross by Sam Hind.

But, seconds later, Pickering drew level after Brown ran in unopposed to net at the far post.

Willan's cracking 40-yard shot then gave Pickering a deserved half-time lead although Hogg scored a superb solo goal to bring Real back on level terms ten minutes after the break.

Moments later, though, Willan netted his second before Brown completed his brace as the heavens opened.

The presentation was made by Robert Stuart, the manager of the York FA representative team.
