Millenary, who streaked home in the Yorkshire Cup 12 months ago, can repeat the feat on Knavesmire tomorrow.

John Dunlop's prolific winner will again be teamed-up with Richard Quinn in the £140,000 Emirates Airline-sponsored showpiece race, which he won in terrific style last year from Alcazar, Jelani and Mr Dinos.

That was Millenary's second outing of the season - he'd previously run well in defeat in the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot - but this time he goes into battle without a preparatory race, having been withdrawn from an intended target at Newmarket's Guineas' meeting because of the firm ground.

Making a winning reappearance is certainly not beyond Millenary, a class act in these staying races and a horse from a yard in fine form. My Nap selection, he looks sure to make a bold bid for a second helping of Yorkshire Cup glory.

Sheriff Hutton handler Mick Easterby, who has been in the winners' enclosure on Knavesmire more times than he can remember during his long and colourful career as a trainer, could well be back there after the Langleys Solicitors Marygate Stakes, which opens tomorrow's card.

He saddles Bow Bridge, a speedy and precocious juvenile bidding for a hat-trick of wins after successes at Thirsk and Ripon. Her form stands up to the closest inspectionand hopes are high that Bow Bridge can oblige again.

Aldora gets my vote in the Michael Seely Memorial Fillies' Stakes, after receiving a form boost on the course yesterday when Secret History scored a pillar-to-post win in the Musidora Stakes.

A fortnight ago Secret History finished second to Aldora at Goodwood, beaten two lengths. If that form can be taken literally, Aldora, a very smart mare a couple of years ago before a serious injury, should be hard to beat.

Fonthill Road is my selection for the Constant Security Handicap over six furlongs.

Richard Fahey's charge, who needs give in the ground, beat his stablemate Philharmonic (a winner since) at Beverley last month. The Malton gelding might well have followed-up at Chester last week if the gaps had come at the right time for him, but he had to settle for second place behind Fire Up The Band.

Paul Hanagan's mount can repeat his course and distance win of last August.

At Newbury, Eswarah makes plenty of appeal in the Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trial Stakes, to be shown on Channel4 along with the four York races they are covering. Eswarah made an impressive debut at Newbury last month.

Jarvis can also lift Newbury's first race with Josh, who should appreciate this return to six furlongs after failing to stay a seventh furlong at Newmarket.
