YOUR report about policing for Ascot week ('Della in Ascot policing promise', Tuesday, May 17) quotes a force spokesman as saying the funding arrangements have not yet been finalised but Ascot has agreed to meet some of the costs for policing the event.
So here we are only one month away from an event that will cost a fortune in police costs and the powers-that-be have not had the gumption to pin down the Ascot authorities on what they will pay.
All we have is a vague commitment that they will meet some of the costs. It may be a daft question to ask but why isn't Ascot paying all the police costs?
What are the police authority and our elected representatives doing about this appalling situation?
