Administrative Assistant (Pay Band E2). Imphal Barracks, York

The DVA carries out security vetting checks on staff in the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence and Defence Industry who are given access to sensitive Government information. We aim to provide a modern, customer-focused and efficient vetting service of the highest quality. The appointments are casual for up to 50 weeks with the possibility of permanency. We are looking for pay band E2 staff to carry out various duties in the following two sections: Primary Clearance Division (Job Share preferred) - Duties include the creation and verification of an

electronic record from source documents, the interrogation of IT systems and subsequent collation of information, locating files using our file tracking systems, producing standard format letters and general office duties. Good keyboard skills, along with an eye for detail, are essential. These posts are offered on a job share basis but consideration may be given to full time applicants. The post-holder should be well organised, have good inter-personal skills and be able to work effectively under pressure within a large team but without constant supervision. Library (Full Time) - The successful applicant will have a mature and flexible approach and have excellent communication skills. They will be committed to providing a first class service to customers. They will be able to work well both on their own and in a team. Duties include the delivery and collection of security files, the action of file requests, the use of relevant IT systems, telephone queries, filing and any other duties that fall within the Library area. The job holder will be required to start work no later than 0815 hours each morning, the remaining hours being flexible.

Benefits if made permanent: Pay system starting at £10,957 (pro rata) with the possibility of performance bonuses.
