HPH York Vale Cricket League division one leaders Bishopthorpe continued their run glut by amassing 249-7 against North Duffield.

Chris Moores (148) and Andy Walton Knowles (54) put on 135 in 23 overs for the first wicket before late wickets fell, John Patrick claiming 3-61.

North Duffield never go down without a fight and responded in their own run chase with Dave Bielby (50), Lee Wild (47), Trev Brittain (37) and Chris Coward (48no) getting them to 193-3 at the close.

Second-placed Drax successfully chased down a Westow total of 142 with five wickets in hand. Neil Earle was the Westow mainstay with 47. Paul Vickers took 4-50. Kevin Thomas kept the Drax score ticking towards victory with 55.

Wheldrake had Danny Nicholson (32) to thank for reaching 109 against Askham Bryan YPO. However, Wheldrake's Mark Fearn and Carl Van Neikirk shared eight wickets to skittle Askham for 82.

Clive Eaton hit 72 for British Sugar but it was in vain as Norwich Union reached their target of 147 with just one wicket lost.

More than 1,000 runs were scored in division two with Fulfordgate leading the way with 256-3 against Ben Johnson, who managed 175 in return.

Matt Boyle hit 88 in York's 188-5 against Stillingfleet. The inexperienced 'Fleet came close, with Rob Elcock (46) and Wayne Livsey (31) doing well, but fell 13 runs short.

Dave Kerrison (38) and father Tony Kerrison (43no) were in good form for Stockton and Hopgrove against Kelfield, but it was in vain.

Set 177 for victory, a rapid 52 from opener Andy Charlton started Kelfield's chase well and, despite a good spell from Dave Kerrison, they crossed the winning line in the final over. Pete Buck followed his four wickets with a patient 38.

Stuart Bennett of Hirst United hit 86no in his side's 154-4 total against Heworth whose Paul Flint scored an unbeaten 43 to steer his side to a seven-wicket victory.

Copmanthorpe maintained their place at the head of the table by shading Thixendale. Copmanthorpe batted first and relied on John Hughes (38) to reach 115, Dean Tyler and James Wigby sharing six victims.

Thixendale then suffered at the hands of Copmanthorpe's three-pronged attack of John and Darren Houghes and Adam Mosley and crumbled to 102 all out.
