I AM surprised to see such an influential player as Lee Jackson has only five points in the Evening Press Player of the Year table.

The Knights started the game against Swinton on March 28 with Lee sat on the replacements' bench and he was not brought on until Swinton led 18-0.

Swinton never scored another point while he was on the field but unfortunately it was too late and we lost the game.

After that, he started in five successive games and the Knights won them all but the Challenge Cup tie at St Helens, playing attractive rugby league.

Lee was rested against Gateshead and York struggled to beat them. In the last match he was on the replacements' bench once again until Hunslet were leading 14-0, thereafter they scored only another two points and the Knights scraped victory in the dying minutes.

His organisational skills and distribution at the play the ball is indispensable. I know he is at the end of his career and cannot play a full 80 minutes but he was the world's best No 9. The Knights do not have enough talent to start games with him and Scott Rhodes sat on the bench.
