IN July 2001 we were privileged to be guests aboard HMS York as it journeyed from Portsmouth to Hull.
Also aboard was Janet Greenwood, then Sheriff of York and now the city's new Lord Mayor.
We should just like to mention that, although there were many gangways etc to climb up and down, at no time during the three days and two nights of the voyage did Janet look anything else but neat, presentable, fashionable and even glamorous.
She was a credit to York.
