BRIDES looking to spice up their big day can now sink back into a sparkling silver-sequined stretch Mini which has shared the limelight with one of Britain's biggest pop phenomena.

York's limousine king Dave Black, who has provided mobile showbiz pizzazz for the rich, famous and fun-seekers for the past decade, has added the Spice Girls' customized four-door convertible to his line-up.

With a champagne table in place and the red carpet ready to roll, the automobile is all set to add that extra something to weddings in York.

Dave, who runs A1 Luxury Limos, bought the latest addition to his gleaming collection of 28-feet motors from a London film company for an "undisclosed sum".

He confessed to paying "over the odds" because of the car's history and rarity.

The Mini carried the Spice Girls on stage in the 1998 Brit Awards in an eye-catching stunt which threw the fabulous five into the spotlight.

The Clifton Moor businessman is confident the Mini will be a hit again - but this time with brides looking for a slightly more alternative ride to the church or register office.

"I have had it for about six weeks. It had no roof on when I got it, so I sent it away to a specialist.

"We intend to use it for weddings and taking my daughter, Imogen, to school. She is five, so she is a bit young for the Spice Girls, but she thinks it is brilliant.

"It has such a lot of room. For any bride who wants something different and has a big dress, it has six feet of space in the back. There are plenty of old Spice Girls fans who would like to get into a motor with a bit of history, and it's totally different to all the other vehicles. And if it's a lovely day they can have the roof down."

Alongside the Mini and traditional limos, Dave who employs four drivers, also boasts a rocket-like eight-seater which was imported from Japan and cost about £25,000.

It boasts a motorised glitter ball, disco lights, plasma screens, a surround sound DVD system, smoke machine and laser show.
