RESIDENTS of fire-gutted Fulford Place were left reeling when they were told not to expect any insurance money to pay for temporary accommodation.
They fell through a technical loophole that no one but an indemnity expert could have foreseen. The unfortunate residents affected continued to fork out mortgage payments on a flat wrecked in the blaze but had no cash for alternative accommodation.
We brought this legally sound but morally unfair situation into the public eye. Now Norwich Union has paid out as a "goodwill gesture".
We applaud the company for doing the right thing - and hope this marks an upturn in fortune for the Fulford Place residents.
