HAS Alistair Darling considered the massive increase in traffic through rural communities?
What about the inevitable and wide-scale rise in the numbers of road accidents and deaths as motorists try to find cheaper routes to their destinations to avoid the charges levied on major roads and motorways?
Has he considered the rise in traffic on quiet country roads, or the huge burden he will place on the emergency services struggling to reach accident victims on sometimes remote rural roads?
And above all, why was this ludicrous idea never mentioned beforethe General Election?
