THE Knights' match at Workington tomorrow has been brought forward to 2pm so no-one misses out on the big St Helens v Wigan Challenge Cup quarter-final.

No-one, that is, except the Knights fans on the Supporters Club bus - which is due to leave Worky at 5pm, missing the second half of the cup tie "due to the long journey home".

That clash, which kicks off at 4pm and is televised live on BBC, had been billed as a potential match of the season - especially since coach Ian Millward left Saints for their arch-rivals - only for Wigan to suffer several injuries and an eye-catching drop in form, which has left many pundits predicting an easy win for Saints, conquerors of York in the last round.

Knights boss Mick Cook, however, reckons it could be closer than expected. "There is a passion between Wigan and Saints anyway and with the adrenaline pumping through the players the game will generally be quite close," he said.

"Then you've got the effect of Ian Millward going back to his old club, which will give it even more spice.

"They have got plenty of pride at Wigan and are going into the match desperate to turn things round.

"There's also a definite mentality about the Challenge Cup for everyone who plays in Super League anyway. It's a massive thing for them so they'll all be up for it."

THE Knights' Supporters Club will run one bus tomorrow.

It will leave at 9am from Huntington Stadium followed by pick-ups at New Lane (opposite Anthea Drive) 9.05, Clarence Street (opposite vets) 9.15, Blossom Street (opposite Odeon) 9.25, and Borough-bridge Road (after Ainsty) 9.30am.

The return bus will depart at 5pm. Prices are £10 adults, £8 students, £8 over-60s, £5 under-16s and £1 under 12s. To book, call 07958 569266 and leave name, membership number, number of seats wanted, pick-up point and a contact number.

DON'T forget to send in your votes for Player of the Month for June after tomorrow match.

Votes can be emailed to peter.martini@ycp.co.uk or sent on a postcard, labelled Knights Player of the Month, to Sportsdesk, Evening Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN.

Whoever tops the poll wins the gong, while all who vote go into a hat to win two free tickets to a Knights match and the chance to present the victorious player with his award.
