Robert Winston and Jamie Spencer, currently going head-to-head in the race for the jockeys' championship, turn out at Redcar tomorrow - and both have good prospects of adding to their scoresheet.

Spencer, who has a slight lead over York-based Winston in the title battle, can get his day off to the perfect start aboard Sunbolt in the opening race, division one of the European Breeders' Fund Maiden Stakes.

Although never previously raced, Sunbolt is from the David Barron yard, which is adept at turning out successful debutantes. It is surely significant that the Thirsk trainer has booked Spencer to partner this juvenile, who clearly deserves every consideration.

Winston takes the mount on Go Solo in the Carlsberg Redcar Straight-Mile Championship Handicap and can look forward to a good ride on Alan Swinbank's four-year-old.

A winner on this course two outings ago, Go Solo has since run well in defeat at Hamilton when going down by a neck to Wahoo Sam. Going the right way, Go Solo can get back on top tomorrow.

Kim Tinkler will be looking to enjoy better luck on Bright Sun in the Ray Thorpe And Son Conversion Specialists Classified Stakes than she experienced on the same horse at Ayr on Monday.

Bright Sun was trapped on the inside rail in the closing stages. It wasn't until the final hundred yards that Tinkler managed to find some daylight into which to switch, before her mount stayed on well to finish a close-up second. A clean run here should give him a strong chance.

Luca Cumani seldom sends horses north without good prospects of success and his progressive three-year-old Zalimar commands respect in the Staithes Handicap.

A good second to the in-form Spinning Coin at Windsor last time, Zalimar would have probably done better still with a stronger overall gallop.

Provided things pan out right for her here, she should shine and, with Nicky Mackay again on board, is awarded my Nap vote.

Over the sticks at Stratford, Shingle Street should get punters off to a good start in the opening race, the Claydon Horse Exercisers Juvenile Novices' Hurdle.

Venetia Williams's gelding showed a definite aptitude for this game on his recent debut, finishing second to Polar Passion on this course. He is fancied to go one better.

Perouse will be hard to beat in the Claydon Horse Exercisers Novices' Chase.

A former high-class hurdler, Paul Nicholls' charge has taken well to the major obstacles and ran out an 11-length winner at Hereford last time.

Keltic Lord, who is in rude health, aims to complete a hat-trick of wins by taking the Claydon Handicap Chase over three miles.

The nine-year-old gained his latest success on this course by no fewer than 22 lengths and a 7lb penalty hardly looks enough to stop him in his current form.
