ARE there any budding film-makers out there?
Your readers will be delighted to learn that the city is participating in a European Union-funded youth media project later this month (May 30 to June 2).
As a result, the council is looking for 16-25-year-olds who are interested in film-making and animation.
If successful, applicants will be given the opportunity to work with a professional film-maker (Kevin Curran) and animator (Simon Collins) to create their own short films.
The best films will be picked for international broadcast on European LYTnet Local Youth Television Network.
As someone who earns his living in film and TV, I am delighted to see the council securing this opportunity for young people in York.
The best way to learn anything is by actually doing it, especially if you can do it with professionals to help you through the process.
If you are interested, please contact the council's art and culture team as soon as possible.
Coun Christian Vassie, Blake Court, Wheldrake, York.
