MY wife and I attended the first in the series of the 2006 lunchtime Organ Recitals at the Central Methodist Church and were most excited by the occasion.
The Chapel is bathed in sunlight breaking through the upper windows and offers a perfect ambience for the enjoyment of such a performance.
The series opened with a programme played on the fine organ by Dr Simon Lindley, who holds the appointment at Leeds Parish Church and Leeds Town Hall and is a past president of the Royal College of Organists.
His varied programme extended from Mozart to Lady Bairstow's favourite, Evening Song by Sir Edward.
The next recital will be given by Dr Francis Jackson on June 1, at 12.30pm another past president of the Royal College.
It would be my earnest wish that those who seek a restorative lunchtime interlude (approximately one hour) make a date to hear these distinguished performers.
