A PLAQUE is being prepared to recognise the historical purpose and significance of the Burton Stone, in Clifton, York, by the pub and road named after it.
The stone is believed to be an example of a 17th century "plague stone", similar in function to the smaller one on Little Hob Moor, near the racecourse.
If anyone has any information or anecdote that you think would assist this activity, please email me at acrose@waitrose.com; I would be delighted to hear from you.
Alan Rose, Burton Stone Lane, York.
