Four Sixth Form pupils at The Mount School, York have just received offers from Cambridge University getting their new year off to a great start.

Rosie Evans our Head Girl has been offered a place to read History at Selwyn College.

Edith Lai is to read Philosophy at Gonville & Caius College.

Sherry Wang to read Mathematics at Newnham College.

Priscilla Hetherton to read Classics at Fitzwilliam College.

2006 is the 175th Anniversary of The Mount School, York, which enjoys a long established reputation for high academic achievements and in fact was, we believe the first school in the United Kingdom to send a girl to university to study science back in 1879. The pupil was Susie Wells who was awarded the prestigious Girton Scholarship, for Girton College, Cambridge.

Today our Sixth Form girls follow the tradition of being offered places at the world's top universities.

Congratulations to all the sixth form girls who have been receiving offers from universities following their UCAS applications.
