My York News' resident poet William Watts has taken up his pen again, this time to help a family member who is feeling down.
William's first poem was written to his Step-Mum, Dawn.
His second was accompanied with a brief letter, and was written to his Step-Nanna.
William's Step-Grandad has been taken very ill and he did the poem and letter to make her feel better.
His letter said:
Dear Doreen (McCowan)
I hope you are feeling OK on your own. I've heard Dave's getting better. Dad has put my poem about Dawn on the internet and it's on the front page, and the whole world can read it. I'll do a poem about you and Dave now.
Doreen a poem
Doreen is great
She sits in her chair
But when we go round
She combs our hair!
I love her lots
She gives me lots of fun
She taps her foot
And makes a big bun!
When she sees us
She gives us a lolly
But what I want
Is to see one of her dollies!
By William Watts
Next week it'll be Dave's poem!

Site Editor's note
Can you write poetry? Does anyone you know have a way with words? You can submit your efforts and share them with the rest of the world, too.
Maybe you know someone who has gone out of his or her way to cheer somebody up, as William has his Step-Nanna. Why not drop us a line and spread a little happiness yourself?
