Bishopthorpe have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Primary Schools’ Football Cup, writes Nick Long.
Bishopthorpe earned their place in the last eight with a 3-2 victory over Yearsley Grove in round two.
An own goal and a Liam Potter brace saw them home.
Clifton-with-Rawcliffe have risen to the top of Primary Schools’ League ‘B’.
Billy Annett’s goals have been crucial. He scored in a 1-0 win at Poppleton Ousebank, and in back-to-back 1-0 and 2-0 successes against Yearsley Grove. Niall Smallwood got the second.
Woodthorpe also fell victim to Annett as they lost 2-1, while Clifton won the return with Poppleton Ousebank 1-0.
Only Robert Wilkinson seem able to challenge them, drawing 1-1 with their rivals while beating Ousebank 2-0 and Woodthorpe 5-0.
Our Lady’s top League ‘D’ having beaten English Martyrs 2-1 before drawing with the same opposition.
Knavesmire strengthened their hold on top spot in League ‘F’ after winning 3-0 at Osbaldwick and drawing 3-3 with Elvington.
Badger Hill were beaten twice by Knavesmire, 2-1 and 2-0, to go13 points clear.
Appleton Roebuck remain top of League ‘G’. Aron Clark and Dominic Knowles were on target in a 2-1 win at Skelton, with Hannah Greenwood replying.
Roebuck drew 1-1 with Rufforth – Oliver Tullie put Rufforth in front but Clark levelled – before losing 4-0 to Tadcaster East.
Heworth are challenging for the League ‘G’ title after winning 4-2 at St Mary’s and 7-0 at Tadcaster East.
Wigginton drew 1-1 with Lord Deramore’s in League ‘E’, while Clifton Green went second with a 2-1 win over Burton Green.
