New Earswick ARLFC U14s lost 38-10 at high-flying Featherstone Lions but did better than the scoreline suggests.

Finishing was the big difference, as only centre Louis Phillips and man-of-the-match Kieron Parker crossed for All Blacks, Tom Kilvington adding a goal. Daniel Rice and Ben Harrison stood out.

New Earswick U11s lost 22-4 at Headingley Hawks despite a good performance in awful weather, the hosts taking advantage of the All Blacks’ lack of substitutes.

Dominic Judge and Ben Husband made good yards, backed up by Jake Goodhall, who took the ‘tackle of the match’ gong, Conor Calam and top tackler Mike Elders.

Calam and, in by far his best display for the club, Adam Craven were the men-of-the-match, while Tom Mulholland got their try from an excellent Calam kick.

Pacey Joe Crampton’s two tries were not enough for New Earswick U10s as an under-strength line-up lost 42-34 at Stanningley ‘B’.

Jimmy Pigott also showed speed and an eye for the try line, while man-of-the-match was Harry Suter. The ‘team player’ award went to Adam Winter Rhodes, and most improved was tough Thomas Noble. Harvey Baynes kicked well and Daniel Craven provided excellent cover work.
