TEENAGE days are still more than six months away but Benjamin Statters is all the rage after the 12-year-old Easingwold GC player bagged his first hole in one.

Playing in a friendly with his dad, Sian Statters, and his uncle, Richard Hanson, he unleashed a seven-iron to the 139-yard par-three fifth at Easingwold. The ball took one bounce and plopped into the cup for the ace.

The youngster first picked up a golf club at the age of six and his natural flair has bloomed since being a member at Easingwold for the last three years. He currently plays off a handicap of 10.8 after initially starting on 31.

Having had private lessons with Mark Pinket from Cookridge GC, in Leeds, he also attended coaching with Yorkshire in 2008.

The upcoming prospect plays for the Easingwold junior team, competing too in junior open matches around Yorkshire.

Naturally left-handed, he plays golf right-handed, and his ambitions are to get down to scratch and eventually turn professional.
