POLICE are investigating an assault where a woman was attacked by another woman during a night out in York.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a 25-year-old local woman was assaulted in the Willow restaurant, in Coney Street, at about 3am on Sunday.
The victim was leaning on a table when she was pulled to the floor by another woman, sat on and punched repeatedly until door staff intervened.
She suffered minor injuries in the attack and was taken to York Hospital as a precaution.
The attacker is described as white, aged between 20 and 22, about 5ft 7in to 5ft 9in tall with a heavy build and dark red-coloured hair.
She was wearing black leggings with a flowery skirt and a dark-coloured top.
A man who was in the restaurant at the time was punched and kicked by another man as he tried to stop the assault. The victim was not injured in the incident.
His attacker is described as white, around 6ft tall, with a slim build and short blond hair. He was wearing black jeans and a black top.
PC Julia Crossley, of York Police, said: “We would like anyone who was in the Willow at the time of the incident or anyone who witnessed the assault itself to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.
“The offenders left the restaurant shortly after the incident, and we would also like to hear from people who saw anyone matching their descriptions on Coney Street just after 3am.”
