I agree with F Montgomery (“I wish lights were off every morning”, Letters, March 20) when the traffic lights are out of order at Blossom Street/Micklegate the traffic flows much better.
The Foss Islands junction must be the poorest design ever. I wish the council would look to save money and at the same time lower the carbon emissions by removing the lights in favour of roundabouts at various areas, such as Huntington Road/Heworth Green, Haxby Road/Wigginton Road, Salisbury Road/Water End, to name a few. There would be no problem with pedestrians crossing the roads, simply install zebra crossings.
