Councillors and salt bins, don’t you just love them! I would have thought it would have been prudent for the two Labour councillors, James Alexander and Sandy Fraser, to have got their act together before putting pen to paper (Letters, January 5).

On the one hand, James tells us that it is clear that very few people use salt bins, a throwaway comment that I take exception to, and then states that the council could remove them through continued lack of use.

On the other hand, Sandy is asking for the head of Lib-Dem councillor Ann Reid for withdrawing more than half the number of salt bins in the city, which apparently means that local residents are now unable to use them.

One of them must be wrong and judging by the number of times that both the Windmill Rise bins have been empty, I suggest it is James.

As for Sandy, is he sure, really sure, that people are walking in the centre of busy roads to avoid the slippery footpaths, or is he confusing centre with edge?
