A team of York College law students have been pitting their wits against other legal eagles in a national competition.
The students travelled to Leeds Combined Court Centre to compete in the Bar national mock trial competition.
Students from the competing teams take on a variety of legal roles in the courtroom, including prosecution and defence barristers, in what is described as an “active learning competition”.
Kitted out with authentic wigs and robes, the students went head-to-head with the competing schools and colleges in the region to contest a pair of mock trials.
Assisted by the former barrister and current solicitor David Llewellyn, of Pryers Solicitors, the York team prepared for cases involving charges of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and robbery.
The 16 winners of the regional heats will represent their region at the national final in March next year.
