PLAYER of the match Vanessa Walker scored the winner as Nestlé Ladies Hockey Club beat Stamford Bridge 2-1.
Bridge, with only nine players, had converted a penalty corner to take an early lead in the first half.
Nestlé then applied the pressure, but Stamford stood firm with excellent defence, led by Kerry Meggison.
After the break, Nestlé equalised with a goal from youngster Eve North.
Walker then scored to nudge her side in front and, although Stamford continued to attack, Nestlé hung on for their first home win of the season.
