PROMISING fighters just keep on coming off the conveyor belt at Andy Wilby’s Way Of Life Thai Boxing Club in York, writes Steve Carroll.

Two new additions to the club, Joel Buckle and Martin Dunning, have both achieved ring success for coach Wilby and his outfit, who train at the York Gymnasium Club.

Buckle fought Josh Buckle (no relation), of the Koi Loi club in Harrogate, and beat him on points following three two-minute rounds in Oldham, while Dunning faced a stiffer task against a much heavier fighter.

Dunning weighed in at 98kg – 28kg lighter than Richard Sherburn, of the King’s Cobra Camp in Durham. But the size disadvantage didn’t stop Dunning, who also won on points after three two-minute rounds.

The pair are next set to go into battle on November 1 at the Frontier Club in Batley with a trip to Thailand in the offing.

Wilby said: “Obviously we are on a winning streak and want to keep it that way if we can.”
