YORK Under-11s schoolboys opened up their league campaign with an emphatic 12-0 win over Bradford.

The home side were well worth their victory at Dringhouses+%28football%29">Dringhouses FC, where they played attractive and deadly football.

In a heavily one-sided first half, Sam Drake scored a hat-trick and Angus Richardson, Casey Stewart and Louis Cade ensured the hosts went in at the break six goals up.

York did not slow down in the second half, showing no mercy.

Strikes from Stewart, George Wilson-Shields, Will Hall, Jamie Spaven and George Brown completed the emphatic win.

Coach Ian Hutchinson said: “Although Bradford presented a limited challenge, we produced some excellent build up play before showing a killer instinct.”

Despite leading at half-time York U14s unluckily lost 3-2 to Hull.

Initially York utilised the wings while Hull looked for the speed of their forwards but both defences held firm.

Ten minutes before the break the deadlock was broken as Hudson was fouled. Ripley-Kitson smashed in the penalty.

From an early second-half corner Hull’s centre-forward prodded in a loose ball and, five minutes later, Hull went ahead with another close-range finish.

York pressed hard for an equaliser and were rewarded after a foul just outside the box. Adamson fired the free-kick into the top corner.

Both teams pushed hard for a winner but Hull came out on top when a long ball evaded York’s defence and Hull’s forward finished coolly.
