The girls’ under-11s football derby between Stamford Bridge Scorpions and Stamford Bridge was highly anticipated – and the 1-1 draw did not disappoint, writes Jamie Crane.
Defences limited chances through strong and fair challenges with Bridge’s Ellie Fitzmaurice outstanding.
Eventually, the Scorpions’ defence buckled and, after a series of passes, Millie Templeman broke the deadlock for Bridge.
This kick-started the Scorpions and, after good work from Natalie Hart, Sophie Tinson shot through a crowd of players to level.
The progress seen by both sides since last year is a credit to their respective management teams both in the girls’ technique and spirit of the game.
