An invited audience from across North Yorkshire was given a rare opportunity to question senior members of North Yorkshire’s criminal justice system.
The Talking Justice event was staged at the Merchant Taylors Hall, in Aldwark, York.
The North Yorkshire Criminal Justice Board invited community representatives, elected members, business leaders and members of the voluntary sector to join them to discuss a range of justice related topics.
The purpose of the event was to enable community leaders to put their questions straight to a panel of senior representatives from each of the criminal justice agencies, including North Yorkshire Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, Her Majesty’s Courts Service, the National Probation Service, regional Youth Offending Teams, and Victim Support.
The event was hosted by BBC Look North’s Harry Gration, and there were keynote speeches from Sir Duncan Nichol, chairman of Her Majesty’s Courts Service Board; Rob Turnbull, chief Crown Prosecutor for North Yorkshire; and Pete Brown, chief officer of the North Yorkshire Probation Area and chairman of the North Yorkshire Criminal Justice Board.
