DARING fundraisers will not get cold feet if they sign up to Macmillan Cancer Support’s latest charity challenge in York.

The charity is looking for people to take part in a sponsored fire walk at Rawcliffe Country Park on Wednesday, November 18.

The stunt will involve walking bare foot across five metres of red hot wood embers, measuring some 800C.

Organisers are looking for at least 50 people to take part to help them raise £10,000 for Macmillan’s work providing expert care and emotional support to people living with cancer.

Roohi Lupton, fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “This is quite an unusual challenge, ideal for those who fancy doing something different and daring, while at the same time raising money to make a big difference to people affected by cancer.

“We’re hoping the brave people of York will join us, and help us to raise £10,000.”

Participants must pay a £25 registration fee to cover the costs of putting on the event, which means every penny from the sponsorship they raise will go straight to the charity’s work.

Roohi said they were asking for a minimum sponsorship of £188 per person, which is the cost of funding a Macmillan nurse for one day.
