The 2009 York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge was brought to a fitting conclusion in York’s Mansion House.
Hosted by the Lord Mayor of York, Coun John Galvin, more than 60 representatives of the teams, sponsors, charities and York Rotarians gathered in the splendid surroundings of the Mansion House saloon to hear York Rotary Club president Ian Stockley announce the final results and present some well-earned awards.
Mr Stockley: “The main purpose of this event is to raise money for local charities, and I’m pleased to say that this year’s contribution will bring the total raised over the last seven years to more than £450,000, shared among 120 local charities.”
