Having played here before and with their debut mini-album – Vivarium – released this week, Glaswegian quartet Twin Atlantic certainly had reason for Fibbers to welcome them back a second time.

Made up of singer Sam McTrusty, bassist Ross McNae, guitarist Barry McKenna and drummer Craig Kneale, they showed great interaction with the crowd and moved around the stage with dynamism to create a pulsating vibe within the club.

The alternative rock band really came to life from word go. They began with a succession of high-energy songs to really get the crowd going, although nothing outrageously spectacular to leave the audience humming their melodies, but they sounded like a good quality, confident band with some great potential.

It did take a while, however, before more variety came along but when it did it was excellent and the final few numbers sent the crowd home feeling reassuringly satisfied with money well spent. The pick of the songs would have to be You’re Turning Into John Wayne and Lightspeed.

It was not a sell-out, but Twin Atlantic did not disappoint. In case anyone missed this young Scottish up-and-coming band, they will be touring around the UK until early October – details of which will be found on their website.

With McTrusty singing in his rich, native accent throughout, there was plenty of passion and it will be interesting to see how they progress over the next couple of years.

A return to Fibbers will surely beckon.
