YORK Cricket Club Under-11s claimed a cup double when seeing off Londesborough Park for the second time.

After beating their rivals in the cup, they then put them to the sword in the league final.

Having lost the toss and been put into bat, York batted very carefully on a wet wicket and lost only two wickets.

They scored 253 runs, helped by 29 extras, and it was an imposing target for the Londesborough lads.

They lost wickets regularly throughout their innings – helped by two run-outs by Will Andrews, one of which was a direct under-arm hit.

Another stumping from Keiran Bloor and two wickets, cleaned bowled in two balls in his only over, by Jack Pottage, put York firmly in command.

Londesbrough Park went into their final over needing 41 runs but could only muster two singles from Tom Spearman, York’s leading bowler this season.

The triumph capped a superb season for the young Clifton Parkers, which has seen them play 11 games – four in the cup and seven in the league – and win all of them, scoring 797 runs.
