SEVERAL York churches will be taking their praise to the streets on Sunday for an open-air service on the Millennium Bridge.
The event, hosted by Churches Together in south-east and south-west York, is one of several similar services that have taken place by the river so far this summer, which aims to join churches from different denominations in worship.
Worshippers will swap their pews for the pavement for a 45 minute service.
“It’s amazing how many people have attended the services this summer. I think it’s had a really positive effect”, said Keith Chapman, of York Baptist Church.
“At one of the services a boat on the river even stopped so that the passengers could join in, it was unbelievable.”
The group also has plans to fundraise for some local charities in the near future and establish links with international churches.
