On September 17, 1949, the couple, who live in Newton-on-Ouse, tied the knot at the church of Holy Trinity, in Heworth, York. During the war Leslie, 86, served with the army in the reconnaissance section of the Royal Armoured Corps.
Leslie was awarded five medals for his war service in Italy and North Africa.
In peacetime, he worked at Rowntree’s, in York, where he was employed sampling ingredients that went into chocolate.
