YORK’S fifth festival for the over-50s has got under way with a big information fair held at the Guildhall.
The fair, held yesterday, featured about 30 stands offering advice and speciality services from a range of organisations including York Carers Forum, Older Citizens Advocacy, York Karate Academy and the York group of the National Osteoporosis Society.
The festival, organised by York Older People’s Assembly, aims to “bridge the generation gap” and other gaps between abilities, faiths and cultures.
The 36-page festival programme is available in libraries, community centres and city centre hotspots.
Last year’s festival involved thousands of residents and visitors, faith groups, community centres, care homes, schools, colleges, theatres and businesses.
