IT’S hats off to a North Yorkshire shop which has celebrated its fifth birthday in style.

Staff at specialist hat and accessory shop Simply Devine, in Tadcaster, threw a party to mark the milestone last week, with an extra-special touch to the occasion coming in the shape of an Easter bonnet cake being made by the nearby Little Delicatessen.

The York Road business was started by Joy Devine in 2004 – whose recent 65th birthday made it a double celebration – and she still runs it with the help of her daughters, Liz Devine-Wright and Kay Place.

The cake, based on the Simply Devine logo, will be donated to the Martin House Hospice at Boston Spa for children and young people near Tadcaster, with Joy saying: “Easter is an exciting time for children and we thought the boys and girls at Martin House could share this lovely cake with their families.”

The business will present its 2009 season hats and accessories at a fashion show on Saturday, April 18, at St Peter’s School in York, with the proceeds going to The Gian Foundation, a charity sponsoring the education of underprivileged children.
