A MAJOR search has been launched for a girl missing from a care unit in York.
Police are scouring the city by helicopter and on the ground, after the girl was reported missing this evening.
Officers have been searching Rawcliffe Ings and scanning the River Ouse. The search is ongoing.
The girl went missing from the Limetrees Child, Adolescent and Family Unit in Shipton Road, shortly before 8pm.
The centre provides residential care for young people suffering from psychiatric, psychological or emotional problems.
Police at the scene confirmed that a girl had gone missing, but were unable to provide further details.
