Pocklington School’s Lucy Harrison has achieved a significant honour.
Harrison, the first team hockey captain, was declared player of the tournament at the 1st XI Kirkham Grammar Tournament.
The award was made to her in recognition for the manner in which she approached the day, led her team and conducted herself with others.
It was an honour for the girls to be invited to this high-profile tournament in the company of such top-calibre teams.
The standard of hockey was excellent, and the girls certainly rose to the challenges of the day.
While Pocklington sampled just one win – a 3-1 conquest of Sedbergh – their defeats to Millfield and hosts Kirkham were by a single goal, and they were beaten 2-0 by British Colleges.
The upshot was Pocklington have been invited to next year’s event.
