THE Lord Mayor of York, Coun Brian Watson, left, and the city’s Sheriff, Coun David Wilde, join Judith Rigg, head teacher of Copmanthorpe Primary School, at the opening of the school’s new nursery provision bungalow.
The civic dignitaries were greeted by members of the nursery, playing trumpets, and Coun Watson marked the opening by unveiling a plaque.
The vicar of Copmanthorpe, The Rev Geoff Mumford, also took part in the dedication of the new premises.
The visitors were presented with daffodil bouquets by the children.
Staff from the Quackers nursery then led the Lord Mayor on a tour of the new facilities, which have been in use since January.
The nursery is housed in a converted caretaker’s bungalow on the school site.
The cost of the conversion was funded through a partnership between the school and the City of York’s Early Years Group.
