RESIDENTS of St John Street in York are fed up with the fortnightly rubbish collection. They are not alone. This is a national bugbear.
Perhaps City of York City could make a stand and agree to weekly rubbish collection on condition that every household in the city double their recycling efforts this year.
That way, there would be less rubbish to collect, it would be collected faster and would fester for only half the time.
New jobs in refuse collection and recycling could be created, which would save costs on housing and council benefits elsewhere. How about it?
