HAMILTON Panthers gained revenge for a 5-0 drubbing by Thorpe United as they won 4-3 in the York Minor League Under-16s division one.

The Panthers’ goal led charmed life as Thorpe dominated the match but failed to turn their 20-plus chances into two winning points.

Panthers went ahead, but Josh Brigham put in a superb cross for James Leadbeatter to nod home the equaliser.

Thorpe then fell 2-1 behind, but Jack Ashmore and Ryan McEvoy combined to create a leveller for Ross Gemmell.

Ashmore then put his side in front with 15 minutes remaining.

However, they were unable to hang on as Panthers added two further goals to all-but end Thorpe’s title challenge.
