ew things in life are more difficult to bear than the loss of a family member, particularly at the untimely age of 27. The loss of Sam Gwyer to a fatal heart condition bought grief to his partner and child, and to his entire family, including his brother, Thomas.
But Sam’s death was also a wake-up call to Thomas.
“I was pretty unfit, so I decided to look after myself….I made a promise to my brother and will eventually do a marathon in his memory.”
Most touching of all, Thomas is hoping his efforts will spare others the tragedy his family has endured. He’s raising money for the British Heart Foundation and hopes others will follow his lead.
We hope so too. Thomas is surely inspiration enough.
