YORKSHIRE title winners IT Sports Wigginton have the England National Squash Club Championship crown in their sights.

The York club clinched the Yorkshire Premier League crown for the third time with a 4-1 victory over Sheffield side Abbeydale.

Wigginton rested club champion Jon Duffield but his replacement, Chris Gillespie, beat Abbeydale veteran Murray Scott 3-1 in an ill-tempered match.

Matt Lowery was back to form as he beat Nick Hornby 3-0 to put Wigginton two up.

England junior Neil Cordell then had to retire midway through his game with Adam Nowcowski due to a wrist injury.

However, Wigginton were back on track when Pete Billson proved too strong for Nick Wall, winning in straight games. The victory – and the title – was wrapped up when Andy Whipp beat former Wigginton player Joel Hinds 3-0.

After sealing the title, Wigginton will represent the county in the national championships in June. The club were England champions in 2007.
